More Photos in Glacier National Park
We had a lovely day again yesterday to drive into the park and take photos. As I mentioned yesterday, all the popular places were really packed. This morning it was about 50 degrees and raining so we went for a late breakfast to this cute little spot in Columbia Falls……
After breakfast we picked up a newspaper which had a story about the crowds in Glacier this year breaking all records. Over 818,000 visited the park in July, 17% more than any previous month ever. No one is sure of the cause but the low cost of gasoline seems to have brought a lot of families in tents and smaller campers to the RV parks in the area. It also seems they all go to the most popular places like Logan Pass. Parking at Avalanche Creek was also impossible.
Nevertheless it was a gorgeous day so here are some more photos…
Last night at our campground a local company launched a balloon…..very pretty with the setting sun behind it….
Our campground is here on Google Maps….Spruce Park on the River…..
We’re leaving tomorrow for Washington. The drive on US 2 through the rest of Montana and the narrow panhandle of Idaho to the Washington border is only 200 miles.
