New Camera and Sample Photos

The bug bit me a few weeks ago….I bought a new camera. Very much like the one I had, an Olympus Micro 4/3 mirrorless camera. This one has a larger sensor and several features that my older Olympus does not have. Coincidentally,¬†around the same time Adobe came out with a new way to market their Lightroom photo editing software so I signed up for that too.

For the record, here is my old Pen Mini camera in front of my new Olympus Pen-f camera…..

One of the advantages of the new camera is the knobs…the old camera required the user to change all the settings via the LCD touchscreen on the rear of the camera, sometimes that was very unhandy…..another advantage is the old camera did not have a viewfinder so in bright sunlight it was hard to see the image on the LCD screen….lots of other smaller pluses and I really love the new camera.

Below are some exposures taken with the new camera and edited with Adobe Lightroom Classic…..

These two taken the night of the FIYC Christmas boat parade….below the Beach Club and Palmetto trees so brightly decorated

This is one of the houses next to the Marina store by the docks…

Here the Edisto River flowing at the back of our daughter’s property near Cottageville….

A downtown Beaufort walk got this beautiful garden in one of the classic old homes fronting the Beaufort River…

This last group near sunset just a little after 5 PM on November 24 at the Fripp Island Marina….

Finally, the last one exactly at sunset…5:17 PM

The wonders of the photo editing software makes it possible to extract the beautiful colors in the sky and reflections off the water while at the same time opening up some detail in the shadows that would otherwise be almost totally dark …for example under the dock…

We are off to Cincinnati tomorrow for a week to see the family and celebrate a granddaughter’s graduation from college….more photos to follow……

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you…
