Saint John…..bus tour on a foggy day

Arrived here at the city campground about noon yesterday …..the campground is part of a huge city park, about 240 acres. It’s a lovely park with 28 KM of walking trails ….(do the math). We decided to go to the reversing falls. Finally found it and it was in between high and low tide so nothing really happening. When we decided to return we could not get Google Maps to work and drove around for a long time on these crazy streets finding our way……

Here a shot at the campground about 7 PM last night…..

Bus tour of the city this morning took us back to the Reversing Falls……tide was starting to go out so the water was moving…..at high tide the flow in from the Bay of Fundy is so strong that it pushes the water back up stream in the Saint John river….there are only a few hours a day when ships are safe to pass through…..rapids and whirlpools were starting….here the river is flowing out around this good sized island

This is a big city …..here is a view looking at the Bay of Fundy which is famous for the highest tidal flow in the world…..sometimes as great as 54 feet

The tour driver was very good and we got some lessons in Canadian history…..we stopped at several high points….this one had a couple of foggy views….one is the Catholic Church…

some  homes on a hillside in the old Irish neighborhood…..

The Old City Market is a huge building……open almost every day of the year

Crammed with vendors mostly selling food items……

We bought sliced meat, cheese and buns here….

After the tour and lunch we re-stocked at WalMart…..

This stop was OK but we both would have stayed longer in Saint Andrew and skipped this stop…..tomorrow off to Hopewell Cape……⛺️⛺️
